  • The smell reminded me of dessert wine, dry citrus peel. On the palette upfront, the wine was suprinsingly acidity. The taste transitions nicely across the palette to more warmer flavors of butterscotch. Good lenght. Nice complexity.

  • This wine just delivers on so many levels. Drank at home paired with Thai-style lettuce wraps with pork, beef, and serrano chilies. Perfect pairing. On the nose, the wine offers rich warm smells of caramel along with lime and tropical fruits. On the palate it's soft and rich, yet with a nice bite of acidity. Lots of body on the mouth feel that softened the spice in the food, while the lime flavors held up as well. Great length that changed across the palate. A different smell and flavor with every new sip. Shows its maturity, but still young at heart.

  • Picked up a little diesel on the nose. Beautiful complexity and length on this wine. Still plenty of crisp acidity up front that transitions into a slight caramel aftertaste that lasts. Quite a unique profile. Tasted at the winery and again a few weeks later from a bottle purchased at the winery.

  • Wines Through the Decades (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria): A great way to end the meal - an Auslese at just about a perfect place for drinking. This had a really nice nose, with a little drizzle of kerosene and subtle drops of honey dripped over bits of pear and nectarine, some osmanthus aromas and a little touch of peach melba at the background. Nothing too sweet or showy, this was actually really subtle in typical Middle-Mosel fashion. The lovely showed a lot more citrus freshness than the nose would lead one to expect, with lemons and green apples on the attack and then fleshier yellow plums dosed with a another little drizzle of honey in the background on the midpalate. The more honeyed, caramelly notes on the wine were almost subdued by the fresh citrus fruit just before they peeked out again at the very fresh finish. Nice stuff - perfectly balanced and drinking beautifully. An unexpectedly good pairing with a durian desert too.

  • A weekend with friends in Germany Mosel area: Part 1: Mature bouquet with some celery. On the palate a touch of sweetness and also a lot of lovely acidity. Overall a beautiful wine with a lot of good freshness. Pity the bouquet is a bit disappointing.
