  • I would think I have a strong (well founded?) bias against a lot of Marlborough wines but this is very good and I reckon would be leading sub $16 pinot in Australia. Richly fruited, not quite black cherry and bitters but well on the way. Fruits are a little pongy and just a fraction stewed but held in check with some bitter buzz on the finish. Going well at 5yrs but needs to be drunk now.

  • A pale garnet colour, this wine has notes of fresh strawberries, leather, cherry syrup, rubber, and stony/saline mineral characteristics on the nose. On the palate, it has a fresh, high acidity, medium- body, light tannin, and a medium+ intensity, with a medium+ finish.
In some ways it tastes like a typical Marlborough pinot noir, yet in other ways it deviates far from expectations -- I still haven't quite decided if those deviations are all pleasant.
