Un très bon Rioja à point. Sans être spectaculaire, il se boit très bien présentement. Le bois est intégré et les tanins sont souples sur une belle trame de fruits rouges. Payé 23,70$ en 2015. Excellent RQP.

Right from the opening, this shows itself to be pure, well-matured (but not too mature) Rioja, with a lovely balance of fresh fruit and savoury elements featuring notes of ripe blueberry and blackberry, tangy cherry, sweet brown baking spice, new and aged leather, and meaty barnyard. It's mostly Tempranillo (90%), with the rest Mazuelo (Carignan) and Graciano. To be sure, there isn't all that much fruit left, and the savouriness takes over on the palate, but everything is nicely integrated at this point in its prime drinking window(if on the late side), the acidity balancing the ripeness through the dry, mildly tannic finish.

Excellent representative of the variety and region. Expressive nose of red licorice, dark fruit, and oak. Smooth, classic tempranillo acidity, with a finish that features old tobacco and lingering tannins. Good QPR at $18, but hard to find there. 90+

Tasted as part of my Level 3 WSET Course (Day 3 – Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA and Canada). Clear medium intensity garnet in the glass. Developing nose with med(+) intensity with leather, graphite and similar secondary aromas (although there is a little bit of primary fruit hanging around). Dry, med(+) acidity and tannins, medium body and intensity. Very true to what it is – the palate still has some primary fruit (strawberries) but there is plenty of secondary flavours. May be described in certain New World countries as having ‘tired fruit’! Nice wine.
