  • Bought during a Sam's "warehouse sale" 14-15 years ago, but paperwork not handy. Looks like I bought 3-4b for less than 20/b. Decanted and consumed--light sediment for its age. Amber edge, fruit faded, past prime but some left on the nose--old leather, some mature red fruit; good mouthfeel and some red fruit. Actually enjoyed it with a somewhat mildly spicy roast chicken pizza, likely because the spice masked some of the ox from age. Glad to have it, wish I'd drunk 8-10 years ago. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price--past prime but still enjoyable after 18+ years.

  • Good fruit, but a bit bitey initially. Medium tanin and the finsih was short. While this was similar to the previous bottle, it seemed a bit lacking. Can't really put my finger on it, but seems like there was a hole in the middle. Bad stuff? No, but not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination.

  • The color looked a bit worn in the middle, turning the slightest bit amber. The nose was a lovely strawberry, cedar and pencil lead mixture. Initial taste was quite bitter and more tannic than I had anticipated. Initial taste was a pop and pour, which was foolish of me considering I just took it out of 56 degree storage. After decanting for approximately 35 minutes, tasted again and the wine was showing more true flavors. The layering was nice, as the fruit met some cola and cinnamon stick, but the finish was quite short. I'd look at drinking this one sometime in the next 12 months or so.

  • Wonderful Californian-style heady, alcoholic, fruity, pleasurable brew. Bit overwhelming with food and showing its 14,5% alcohol clearly. 89P

  • Delicious fruit bomb, reminiscent of a simple mid-90s Ravenswood Zinfandel. Excellent value at just under 13 Euros retail. 89P
