Opened but not decanted one hour prior to service. Transparent medium garnet to rim. Nose of dust and leather. Palate has red fruit, little spice/pepper and earth. Medium body with plenty of acid, some tannin presence. Finishes with savory notes, faint fruit notes. A nicely balanced, complex wine. No sign of decline.

Popped and poured. Dusty aroma of flowers and tobacco leaf. Clean, mild red fruit up front, some bramble mid palate, explosive finish of black fruit and licorice. Pure flavors, good backbone, complex. Classic zinfandel, excellent QPR.
Current CT drinking window shows an end date of 2020, but this has miles to go.

I admit, I grabbed the wrong bottle from the cellar. I was looking for a Syrah and just saw the ‘X’ on the cork and thought i had it, forgot I had some zin too. Popped and poured, it was not until the second glass that i realize it was the zin. Honestly, it is bloody good and I love zin and Syrah. Nice tertiary flavors developing now, a bit of dust and leather coming through. I think it still has a few years left in it.

Light, fresh and crunchy, some faint mocha tones, but without the complexity of most Cabot wines.
