Nice nose of petrol and lemon. As for the palate, I suppose that it's technically off-dry, but it's not particularly complex so the sugar tends to dominate. Like lemonade with a dollop of gasoline fume.

This won a Platinum medal at the 2014 National Wine Awards of Canada. Opening it tonight, I can certainly see why. It's excellent. Beautiful nose, off-dry palate, with a vibrant acidity. I wish I had more.

36 years old vines. Really nice Riesling nose. A little sulphur. More citrus. Riper on the palate. A little off flavor on this finish. Oxidized? Minerally and dry. Slightly off dry style.

Sourced from older vines in the Twenty Mile Bench appellation and farmed organically and biodynamically, this Riesling presents itself much more maturely than its age might suggest. The complex nose blends citrus and tropical fruit, light floral notes, and vaseline/petrol. The grapes were harvested early in 2012 to preserve acidity, which balances out the nearly 30 grams of residual sugar per litre. The palette conveys a combination of tropical fruit and wet stones, while the clean finish lingers. The sugar and acidity present in this Riesling will permit some ageing, but I would hesitate to cellar beyond 2015. Everything is balanced elegantly now, and there is little to no need to improve this winner of the 2014 Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Ontario's Wines.
