South African Wine + Surf Trip; 5/17/2014-6/1/2014 (Western Cape, South Africa): Medium gold color with intense bubbles. Lovely, deep aromas of toasted bread, yellow flowers, golden apples, cinnamon toast and a note that reminds me of white tea. Tingling acid but lots of body here. Apricot, green and yellow apples, lemon custard. Toasted nuts, yeasty bread and honeycomb mix with lots of minerals, seashells and sea breeze. Crisp, lots of verve, quite intense and could use five or six years to evolve. Definitely the best bubbly of the trip. 50% Pinot, 46% Chardonnay, 4% Pinote Meunier.

Perhaps just a tad lighter/applely than previous vintages. Consistently one of the best MCC wines from the Cape.
