Deep, dark, balanced & integrated, this wine draws you in with its complexity. Showing slight browning & no sediment, the wine does not reveal its 16% ABV. The natural prune quality of Amarone is tempered by a freshness that is delightful. Sorry this is our last bottle. I must add this was the most challenging cork ever to pull intact from a bottle, even using the Durand, requiring 20+ minutes of brute force. Worth the effort. 96.

First bottle opened was flawed and undrinkable. Second bottle seemed fine and given an 86 rating. I have had this wine several times since 2014 and the drinkable bottle was still not up to what I remember the earlier ones being. They have been in temperature controlled storage since purchased from WTSO. Certainly a huge variability in bottles.

Notes of lightly raisin-ed dark fruit, clove, herbs, earth. Nicely matched with food, soft tannins are fully resolved and nicely balanced by mouth-watering acidity. Ends with a nice caressing finish (93+).

Wow... 2 years since my last tasting and this big boy has really mellowed out and matured. More classic in style and toned down, I believe this wine is now hitting its stride. This wine has come together nicely. Good complexity and lingering finish. 91-92
