Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 90.8 points

  • Damn good wine, but damn difficult to make a tasting note too. Just enjoy and let someone else struggle with descriptors. Should be drunk as a stand alone wine to save confusion. 91 now, more in time.

  • Decanted and enjoyed over a long evening. The nose was right away open, unique and evocative. Like diving into a cloud of almond, animal fat and judicious oak, like nothing else I can think of. Just as blanc de blancs Champagne has sometimes smelled like puke in a non-disturbing way, there is something a bit nasty about this nose that I do not find unappealing (and surprisingly I was not the only one of us to think so). The palate is rich and powerful yet very sophisticated. It is absolutely silky and really all about texture. There is some oiliness to it but very little weight despite the concentration.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, it has light lemon color, with wide watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit such as pear and quince, floral notes of honeysuckle and rose, mineral notes of stone, maturity notes of honey. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (-) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, medium body and medium (+) intensity flavors of green fruit such as pear, oak notes of vanilla and cream, floral notes of honeysuckle, mineral notes of stone. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Rhone white from Hermitage, the wine has a reasonably intense nose showing good complexity, with a rich and well-structured palate of good concentration. Though still early in the development stage, the wine has a good finish, is ready to drink but would benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

  • White Rhone: 92M/8R, 14m in 5-10y.o. 600l oak.
Darker yellow colour. Earthy, food aromas, anise or fennel. Round, soft, foody, milky nose. Ultimate balance, probably on the brink of closing down.
