  • Texas Wine School - Italian Wines Scholar. Clear, bright, medium (+) yellow with some gold hues. The nose is clean, with ripe yellow fruit, grapefruit zest, nectarine, pineapple, salted almonds and wet stone. The palate is dry but with plenty of ripe fruit. The acidity is medium to medium (+); the alcohol is medium (+) (13.5%). It is medium (+) bodied, with medium (+) to pronounced flavors and a long, crisp, slightly bitter and salty finish. It is still drinking well and has not aged appreciably in the last six months. Nevertheless, it is not likely to improve with further aging. Frankly, I like it more every time I try it.

  • Texas Wine School - Wines of Italy Class. Clear, bright, medium (+) yellow. The nose is clean, with ripe yellow fruit, lemon zest, white peach, a hint of pineapple, savory herbs, green olive brine and wet stone. The palate is dry but with plenty of ripe fruit. The acidity is medium to medium (+); the alcohol is medium (+) (13.5%) but not hot. It is surprisingly creamy and rich on the palate - despite the lack of oak aging - thanks to partial malo. It is medium (+) bodied, with medium (+) to pronounced flavors and a long, slightly bitter and salty finish. It is still drinking well now but is not likely to improve with further aging. This is an incredible value at $17 and under. It should appeal to New World Chardonnay lovers who don't like oak.

  • By the glass at Terra. A decent, food-friendly lunch wine, very serviceable with a whole range of seafood dishes. It had a nicely fresh nose, with liberal sprinkles of of lemon zest, bright grapefruit aromas and a whiff of sea spray, and a touch of slatey minerality at the edges. The palate was a bit heavier than the nose suggested, with a waxy texture to its fleshy gooseberry and white peach flavours, again lined with more of that charming lemon zest and minerality, with just a trail of spice lingering away into a full finish. A bit plump and ungainly without food, but this seemed to pull together and show better when the dishes came out. All in all pretty decent.
