at first opening thought it was toast overripe melons and hints of brown vanilla moved on however hours later tried and lovely, the skank had drifted away and was as you'd expect out of the bottle

Chicago Wine Flock...Winefool Serving Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Mostly Burgundy (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. Very ripe, very concentrated, but very mature. Slightly lacking acidity, so the maturity makes this seem tired. Also easily identified as New World, as this had enough aromatic similarity to another wine in the flight that I was able to identify them both as Aubert, and this clearly as the older of the two.

Winefool Intro/Retro (Chez Winefool): Served blind. Medium gold color. The nose shows some age with bruised orchard fruit and with time in the glass some interesting lavender notes emerge. Rich and even waxy on the palate. The fruit here is sweet and the acid is fading, so the overall effect is of a wine on the back nine. My note reads a bit harsh as this is a good Chardonnay, but past peak. Easily identified as one of the older wines and new world. My #4, Groups #5.

HDH Auction; 12/13/2014-12/14/2014 (TRU): Big and oaky, with tons of butter, cream and vanilla on the dense palate; The acidity is lacking, suggesting this is past its prime

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 12/12/2014-12/13/2014 (Chicago, IL): I like my chardonnay to taste like chardonnay, not oak.
