  Dark, nearly opaque purple-garnet in glass, aromas of wet earth, black cherry and smoke. Leathery texture, offering up rich cherry flavors, a touch of rosepetal, black earth and mushroom on the palate. Poster child for MdS; the slightly warmer climate than Chianti's regions allows richer fruit, but still the same influences of terroir; the grippy tannins, rusticity coupled with the rich flavors make this a favorite DOCG of ours. This is a good one.
