  • The 1993 Rouget NSG is a very compelling wine in its rather masculine, hard style, opening in the glass with a complex bouquet of red-black fruits, rich earth, black tea and smoky grilled meat. On the palate the wine's structural chassis of firm tannin and vivid acids is still very much apparent, but there is enough generosity and suppleness to make the wine very attractive in its genre. Out of magnum this was still very youthful, and still ascending, so another decade in bottle may well work wonders.
