Beautiful, pure nose of red fruit and fresh flowers. Very nice and silky on the palate. I think I am falling in love with Valtellina nebbiolo these days.

A visit to Sandro Fay (Valtellina, Italy): Tasted at the winery. 100% Nebbiolo. Made from the grapes down slope (below 450M) in the DOCG - colder in spring and autumn, resulting in thinner skins and lower ripeness. Aged in used 40HL Boitte. 13.0% ABV. Mid burgundy color to slightly browning rim. Quite a herbal/medicinal almost amaro-like nose. Lush and smooth with pretty, fresh strawberries, good length and soft but present tannins. A very pleasing and good everyday wine, drinking well now. 87 pts.
