Beautifully concentrated after about 45 minutes of air. At this point it starts with a brick red color, showing a little age (?), and has a significant barnyard funk along with some dustiness. With air the dustiness fades, while the barnyard reveals a perfume and raspberry concentration. This is fabulous and is drinking superbly now.

Pop and pour. Grassl Cru stem. Drank over 5 to 6 hours. Nice deep ruby color. Wonderful fruit and spice notes. Plenty of red berry fruit on the intro with brown spice accent. Shows more primary fruit than expected for an 11 year old wine. Good acidity to keep it lively. Delicious. Opened up with more exposure to air.
13.8%abv.

Drank half this bottle a couple weeks ago from Coravin and just finished. Air is this wine’s friend—a lot of time in the glass, and quite a bit of spinning, helped bring out the fruit, which on the palate was at first quite subdued and submerged under an acidic layer. Amazing nose—strawberry and cherry cola, maybe a hint of orange blossom. After quite a while the fruit came out, mostly a bright cherry flavor. Ultimately the flavors didn’t quite match the promise of the aroma, but a good experience nonetheless. Probably at its peak at this point, but I imagine it also has a couple years left.

45 minutes in the decanter, which brought the acidity in line with the strong fruit character of this wine. Rich, with smooth dark cherry prominent. Some pleasant sour cherry emerged after 90 minutes or so. I also started to catch some deeper secondary flavors after a couple hours. Will be interesting to see where this one goes over the next couple years.

Deep dark dark fruit, savory. Easy drinker, but a bit more acid would have balanced out the sumptuous 2012 fruit better. A tasty glass.
A note: Its been 5 years+ since I last opened a Brick House bottle because they reliably give me headaches after (over-sulfuring?). This 12’ did the same. I give it a “A” for pleasure in the glass, but a “C-“ for headache.
