  Drank alongside a 2014 Camino Chardonnay. Color nearly identical. The nose on this is more of the mineral driven "steely" kind. Some wildflowers and lemon. The entry is a bit round, but good acidity that still has vibrance. A bit of pear and mango. Finished with a little bit of herb. Neat wine. Deserves a table of its own. I would start drinking this. Dan says that this one used to be very punchy a few years ago. It is definitely not that way today.

  Dinner at Formento's (Chicago, IL): Served blind. The nose on this screamed reductive white Burgundy. There was no doubt about that. The problem was the palate, which didn't have the necessary acid profile to be white Burgundy. In fact, there was a bit of a floral tone to this, which led me to start thinking about different grapes. The waxiness on the palate also didn't help, and it was quite difficult for me to reconcile all the elements together. I ended up, as I always do when I can't figure anything else out, guessing dry Loire chenin in the vein of Guiberteau.

  I prefer a cleaner, more Chablis-like Chardonnay these days, so this 14.3% abv Chard is bigger and softer than my preference, but it is well-made and tasty nonetheless.
