Almost too pretty and delicate to work as Cote Rotie, if that's what you're digging for in the cellar. I have to tell myself it's just a good syrah, with a good deal of viognier I'm guessing. The fruit is red rather than black, raspberries and cherries, with some spice to it in the background. No meatiness to speak of, so I'm not sure where the bacony notes others speak of are coming from, and pretty light bodied. For sure a pleasant drink, which gains a bit of weight with time in the glass, but the flowers and the fruit are much too prominent for real balance.

When first opened there was an overwhelming nose of bacon fat... 2 hours later a much more subtle wine. Sour cherrys, a kind of play doh pliability then a gloriously savoury palate with bracing but not excessive acidity. Good stuff.

EWG Parties Like It's 1999 (Conrad Greens Abode): Served blind. Nose seems young and ripe leaning to California with some warm spice. Forward fruited and loamy but clipped finish.

Conrad’s: Quite a bit musky, showing clear age signs--forest floor, earth, w/small berries behind it; med. weight, silky and quite elegant acutally-lower t’s, silky soft t’s after the Ciro. Grt w/lamb shoulder.
