VinGilles Loire Masterclass - I (Amsterdam, NL): Magnum. Fabulous wine, intense, elegant and precise, blossom, white fruit, sea shell, ripe lemon, energetic, long. Unfortunately there also is a raw impurity that makes it impossible to rate this wine.

One of few ageworthy Muscadets (to my knowledge). Beautifully elegant. Interesting complexity, stoney, lemony oystershell, seabreeze, fresh cut herbs and vegetables. Still fresh and invigorating, nice acidity. Very, very good wine. 90-91-ish.

Black Glass Society: Chapitre du Qualite - wines < S$60 or S$120 > (DeClassic Golden Spoon, Seng Poh Lane): A delicious wine for its price. Served blind, the nose showed as you would expect from the name, with mineral infused earth, mushroom, some damp cotton wool and lanolin and flowers. Very Loire, could well have been a Chenin on the nose if not for those very stony mineral scents. The palate had an intriguing, almost odd synthetic note to it - reminded me somewhat of Japanese grape gummies, and then some slightly more citrus pineapple notes, slightly browning apples and more of that serious mineral streak. Decent acidity too. Finish showed beeswax and spice, again making me think Chenin. Interesting stuff, and a pretty nice pairing with our Chinese food.

(Domaine de l'Ecu "Guy Bossard" Muscadet Expression du Granite) Great nose of well . . um . . . granite, minerals, lemon curd, slight hints of truffles and some mild citrus skins. Palate was elegant and perfectly ripe with beautifully integrated minerality and a great finish. Absolutely fantastic.

Black glass society: 60 v 120; 2/25/2011-2/26/2011 (Golden spoon): Weird varietal. A bit fino tasting and really hard to put a finger on. A lil of that oxidative fino sherry type aftertaste but not showing as much character. V wet polished pebbles. V dry.
