This is really singing at the moment. Pear, anise, and licorice. Wide open but long and wonderfully focused, with plenty of acidity. (Much prefer this to the less taut ‘14 Orthogneiss, from my memory of the last bottle.) Brilliant with oysters, for a clichéd pairing. Great now but wouldn’t be surprised to see it last another 5-10.

By the glass. From vines over fifty years old that grow on granitic soils. Delicious in both, palate and nose. Fresh and menthol. Fruity. Tense and mineral with a saline finish.

Friday at the LWS (Terre Rouge and others); 6/17/2017-6/19/2017 (Colonial Beverage, Chesterland Ohio): Always one of my favorites from Muscadet and a great value. Light golden in color. The nose is crushed shells, minerals and slightly chalky. Perhaps an essence of pears. Its not about the fruit though. On the palate, this is mineral driven. Nice balance. Food friendly. Nice finish. Around $20 IIRC, nice value.
