Less Celebrated France WIMPS #176 26th April 2024 (La Trompette, Chiswick): A game of two halves here. For a 12 year old wine this is pale, vibrant and youthful. Nose is fascinating with some pineapple cube boiled sweet, some ripe pear, some hints of dewey meadow and a touch of dill. Unfortunately the palate not quite punching at the same level of interest, a bit short and one dimensional although with some air a little grapefruit zest adds some interest

The oak and smoke dances with cheese and tropics. Not clear who is leading. Wonderful ripe cantaloupe and even slightly bubblegum in the palate. Continued to evolve until the last drop dropped.
In a beautiful spot.

Nearly 2 years since my last bottle. This really benefited from 90 plus min in the glass and then it was like licking river rock. All mineral, some pear and a hint of green apple. This is a very well balanced wine that is no doubt in its prime but also no rush to drink these. I’m guessing these still have 3-5 years left on them with ease.

At age 12 this is impressive. Crisp nose of cut grass, grapefruit and a little tropical note. Medium bodied with good cut and minerality. Impressive concentration for a SB with some length in the finish. This is probably at peak but can go another 5 or so years.

Grapefruit and lime notes., More richness and length than ordinary. Still quite drinkable.
