  What a powerhouse. Considerably heavier and darker than my experience with the 1990 (about which I didn't write a tasting note), and seemingly darker than DBP's experience with the 1989. Dark crimson in color, with intense and concentrated black and purple fruits on the nose and palate. A smokey, gamey element permeates the wine with thyme and bramble. Smoke, incense. Both sweet and savory. The acid builds and builds until it explodes. A singular wine. Bottle #281. Rated 3 on a scale of -1 to 3.
