Our last bottle from a 6 pack, none of which have been terribly impressive, and this was no exception. Started out well on the nose, suggesting a palate of some maturity and richness, but the palate turned out to be watery and dilute. There was no There there. Also did not have the acidity I would expect from a 2103. We've liked most other Battenfeld-Spanier wines better, including other vintages of the Herrgott. Maybe they hadn't quite hit their stride with this vineyard in 2013? Or maybe we should have held it longer, but compared to the one we had in 2021, which showed searing acidity, I'd say it wasn't in need of more time.

Trotzdem sehr lecker!! Schon toll zu trinken!

After a week full of hard work and annoyances this one is the right top notch to forget about, learned a lot about this vineyard by corresponding with an estate which owns part possessions from there this week, a stunning fragrant limy nose, nothing but minerality, on the palate a really velvety texture, still a little restrained but opening up with some slow ox in a big Bordeaux glass, silky swallowing, moderate bodied with still demanding acidity, ending with a gentle touch of stonefruit, enjoy from now on and over the next decade(+), ***(*- +), 92+ potential

Living in the Fass Lane: this is a full blown "Lyle Wine" - stone, shell, mineral bathed in citrus. mid is richer - with honeyed red currants up front and moving toward grapefruit and bitter melon toward the back. finish is long with mango notes. this needs time - a LOT more time. excellent.
