  • A business partner swung by with the bottle as he knew I hadn’t tried Dumont but been dying to.

The aroma revealed a nice touch of animalé at first whiff. Damp earth/forest floor, Earl Grey tea. Red and dark fruits; black cherries, raspberries all culminated by a slight candied licorice note I found intriguing.

The palate revealed a more taut approach than expected with licorice notes, kirsch and cranberries. Rather rounded but bone dry, screaming Gevrey with its broader, dark profile.

It revealed its vintage for better or worse and is drinking admirably now. I don’t think further aging will do much.

  • Bright, smoky ripe fruit here, many shades of cherry, with lots of juicy freshness brushing up against skin tannins. Very open, accessible, aromatic style.
