Tasted vis-avis the 2001 this is just a wee bit more simple. The fruit is rich and splendid, some Spanish spice here, sweetness and youth, no complaints, lacks only the aristocratic, old European air of the 2001...

Decanted for 2 hours. An explosion of red fruit on the first nose. Cherry, red forest fruit and some hints of cassis. Nice low acidity melted in the fruit prevents this wine from being 'too heavy'. This Priorat will please the ladies as it is very rounded, medium to full body. The length was medium. I would say this wine is at its top and should be drunk the next 2 years, the nice/low acidity and tannin levels are making the wine very 'fluent' but it is likely to loose 'freshness' in years to come. A great effort in a great vintage in Spain.

Black. Amazing nose, bursting with dark fruits, blueberry compote, iron filings, dried herbs, juicy plum jam, soft nutty oak edge. Intense rich palate delivering on all elements on the nose, supple, lush middle, finishing with good acidity and lots of fine furry tannins. Leans towards the over-ripe end of the spectrum but hard to resist. Difficult to see it getting any more complex, probably just fade with age. It will be impressing for many years to come.
