  • Farbe: sattes, mitteldunkles rot. Nase: satte Kirsche/Backpflaume, keine Alterungsnoten. Mund: frische/angenehme Säure. Schöne wenn auch kurze rote Frucht. Seidiges/wenig Tannin. Guter Zug

  • This pours medium garnet in the glass. Initially a tad musty and closed but I’m fairly sure it’s not corked. Aromas are of dried black currant, decaying cedar, mushroom, dried violets, gravel, bay leaf and tar. The palate enters on lean dark berry fruit turning to firm medium tannin that is a tad green tinged. The medium acid is also lightly green tinged. The finish comes across somewhat clipped by the structure with some bitter and astringent green notes, balanced against whisps of dark fruit. All in all this is about what I figured it could be. A lean yet structured mature Bordeaux. This did progressively get better with air. Would recommend a few hours in a decanter if possible.

  • I had some bad news so decided to open this old fellow, which has been demanding my attention for a little while...The trusty Durand serves it's purpose though the recalcitrant cork does its best to fracture and fail on extraction.
On the nose caramel, leather, earth, slightly herbaceous notes, sweet spice, initially a touch of cellar stink which blows off, black hued fruits that are slightly dried out. Touches of aniseed, biscuit and toast as we spend more time together. In the mouth it has a lovely fresh vivacity, biscuits coated with red and blackberry compote but with all the tertiary notes here as well. It's not volatile but 'tired' sour, fruit tea notes and the tannins are sill present, slightly chalky and slightly drying. Wonderful

  • Two bonus points for a pristine btl from one of the best Bdx-long-term-vintages.

    No oxidation at all.
Deep, red colour with some bricking.
V/a on the nose and a horse is standing near. Bdx earth, cedar, totally classic Pauillac nose.

In the mouth, you cannot ignore the fact that the nose is bigger. Started out rather thin with some "oddities" but after 7 hrs in the decanter, this was an old mama singing the blues. In great shape. What a wine! Soft, elegant and amazingly interesting. Sipping it so slowly I got it caught in my windpipe several times. Poetry material. Screams of refined Pauillac at the age of grace.

With some nice bread, selected cheese and Bosch on AMAZON Prime after a rather long work week.

    Worth waiting for!

  • From Coravin. A little red currant over bramble, earth, blood, meat, five spice, soy with a hint of damp cellar and clay on the nose. In the mouth the impression of black fruit and leather is joined by plentiful tannins which suck enthusiastically at the tongue. Oddly nice.
