  • So glad to have many more Marius wines stashed - this is great drinking and just phenomenal value. Dark fruits and very much settled into itself. No rush and kept opening up over a few hours.

  • Screwcap.
    At Bargara.

Intoxicating nose. Not overdone in any way, yet full of black fruit, deep nutty oak, a hint of iodine.

Controlled palate, almost to the point of being elegant, which is a feat for a McLaren vale Shiraz. Juicy berries, medium bodied, with drying fine tannin. It’s all front and mid palate atm.

Looked best on day 4. More red-fruited (raspberry) flavour on palate and fleshed out.

  • Nose screams quality fruit, picked at the point it retains freshness. Rich and luxurious, but savoury, medium to full bodied but in no way heavy.
Red and black fruits, ultra fine, nebbiolo like tannins.
Great length, shows how good McLaren Vale can be when done properly.
Showing some development, but built for the long haul if required.
    Very good.

  • Wow. Pretty special wine. Nothing overdone. There's a sweetness but not overt, spiciness but in harmony. Noted some reviews indicate to decant and I 100% agree. Not just because of sediment but also this continued to open up and improve over several hours - the last glass was the best. Clearly no rush, many more years of improvement in this. Very good now but feel it will continue to get better.

  • {screwcap, 14.5%} Quite dark still, but betrays its age around the rim. Maturing nose of blackberry jam, soy, liquorice, dark chocolatey. Palate is similar, way less sweet than you expect, full-bodied, with a dense black ripeness. Medium fine powdery tannins, with plenty of spiciness to add to its front and mid-palate presence. Oak is always mild in its slippery background presence. Lavish and rich, but not a fruit-bomb, this will carry on for many more years. Do decant though; there’s a heap of sediment here.
