Double decanted 3 hours and then decanted and enjoyed over dinner for 2 hours. Great nose of forest floor, game and red fruit. This is a bit lean and green, but in a good way and with some great secondaries that show up with even more air. A bit austere, and may improve, but with 3+ hours of air this shows complexity and is fun to drink for old school fans. A-

PoB - Grivot Richebourg vertical dinner (1992-2013) (Hong Kong): From Magnum. Another stellar showing of this vintage. Yes, there are some green herbal notes here but the wine does not feel unripe. The nose is utterly captivating with cured meat, stalks, minerality, red fruit, stemmy DRC like aroma profile. What a wine for the vintage. I had this wine several times and tonight confirms my previous notes.

Drunk at Arbor Restaurant Hong Kong - Ex Domaine Grivot Richebourg vertical - The problem with '04 red burgundy is you are immediately on the hunt for greenness. There was less in this magnum than a bottle I tried last year (sorry, no notes). What seems to be a familiar Grivot Richebourg characteristic - the acid - is ever present. After some time in the glass the acid seems to win the battle but the wine still lacks ripeness.

Blind tasting. This was quite muted today, the Vosne spice aromas were not coming out as much as in previous showings. Still solid for a 2004.

Superb clarity, great array of fruit, very structured and very good Richebourg, if lacking a little spice. 93-94
