Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, complex dense powerful mountain fruit flavors of black berry accented by notes expresso, smoke, spice and cedar with bright acidity and tongue puckering dry tannins on the lingering finish. At a dozen years old, the fill level and most importantly the cork were still perfect, there is still life left in this mountain Cabernet with no signs of diminution from age whatsoever, good value, high QPR (quality price ratio). https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2022/04/obsidian-ridge-obsidian-ridge-vineyard.html

Was headed to a Raleigh restaurant for a birthday dinner and checked out the wine list ahead. Didn't know this wine but it got the best CT rating within my price range. We had half the bottle at the restaurant and the other half tonight. Smooth black fruit but no spice or herbs to go with it. Just a slightly overpriced California Cab.

Nice drinkable wine. Not much finish but on the bold side.

In a great spot. Still tannic but softened. Could go for a couple more years.

90-91. Very enjoyable. Drinking right now, will probably peak in another year, and drink well over the next 5. Would buy again.
