Fine tannins that will drive it till the end of the decade, but it is in the middle of its drinking window as I see it now. Tobacco, espresso, some savoury spices-think rosemary or similar. A touch funky, not really expressive or rich, but quite lean. A very typical for the winery. 10-35y old vines, Sangioevese with many other local varieties, some of which I've never heard of. Interesting for me. Got more expressive with time, should have decant it 2 hrs in advace. €20 range purchase from Italy back in the days. 14.5% alc

Fresh acidity, good fruit and quite a good, dry and tannic finish. Smooth and pleasant drinking, but relatively simple and one dimensional.I guess, that this wine will not improve further and is currently in a nice drinking spot.

Eleganter, vielschichtiger, sehr schöner Chianti Classico Perfekt balanciert, mit frischer Kirschfrucht, aber auch den typisch erdigen Noten Gut eingebundenes Holz, sanfte Tannine, langer Nachhall

93 points, maybe 94. Tasted at the winery. 80% of the volume is their standard Sangiovese. 20% is a cuvee of ancient Sangiovese clones that were found growing on their property when they first bought it decades ago. These are the goldmine, but they don't have many of them to make a lot of wine. Still tight, expect it to peak at about 10 years (2020). New world Pinot noir in color. Medium fruit, medium acid, medium tannins. Red fruit predominates, mainly cherry. Great wine. My favorite from Badia a Coltibuono, and good value at €19.90 at the winery.

Packed with Sangiovese perfume, full of charm and character, this one is much better than the normal CCs, real bargain.
