Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 88 points

  • I just can't figure this one out. Viewing my previous notes I guess I'd still rate it in the high 80's somewhere. It's a good foothills zin, seems a bit stewed. I've enjoyed Sadie Upton from Karly in the past and will continue to buy; I think this was an odd vintage. Threw off lots of sediment on this drinking, should be decanted and filtered.

  • Nice zin red color. Nose was a little closed off, some stewed dark fruits and hints of spice. On the palate fruit didn't appear to be as balanced as in other Karly's (Pokerville, Buck Ten Point) and what was there was upfront. Finish was somewhat short. Not an unpleasant wine by any means, just not my favorite Karly effort.

2nd Night - I might have had a bad night the first night or the wine changed with some air. It was considerabally better the 2nd night, more pronounced friut flavors and much more integrated and pleasant. Based on 2nd night I am changing my original 86 to an 88.
