Retail $22. 100% Cinsault. I picked up this wine on my first time in Lodi way back in 2015, on my first press trip as a "journalist." And then I forgot about it. Until tonight. I had just returned from a long drive from Arkansas. Yeah, Arkansas. I debated whether to open a bottle of wine and while perusing my cellar, I came across this bottle and felt it was calling my name. Boy was it. From one of the coolest vineyards in Lodi (with vines over 100 years old). Fruity (plum and pomegranate) with eucalyptus on the nose with plenty of fruit and flesh on the palate. But there is much more: depth, earth, and mostly integrated tannins. I was completely floored by this wine, it is fantastic. Whoa. thedrunkencyclist.com

Part of the reason I rate it so high is a combination of being good and being unusual. I have one bottle left, I will wait for at least a year to see how it might age.

Decanted 30 mins. ahead and sampled over the next 90 mins. Fairly deep red-garnet color. Nice nose of floral, cherry, and spice notes; shy but nice. Medium-bodied and tart on the palate, maybe too tart. Red-fruit flavors lead. The finish is drying with light tannins and pretty strong grip. This wine is not showing as well as the 2011 that I had yesterday. Maybe the acidity will ease up after a couple of years; one can hope.
