Mature, warm red flavors; strong but not overpowering. Relatively thin mouthfeel, more like Pinot Noir than Merlot. Possibly past its best, but the flavor and finish were still quite good.

With a nose of chemicals in the form of acetone and acetic acid it was difficult to taste. These aromas did not blow off after 10+ hours. I picked up the same flavors as were on the nose plus fortified brandied components, heat and fig. Something is really off with this wine I suspect improper storage is in play here. I now know why a mass of cases of this wine hit the secondary market for less than cheap. You get what you pay for.

The 2010 Newport Seafood and Wine festival (Newport, OR): TONS of oak on the nose, stewed berries, reduced feeling. My wife took a single drink and poured the rest into my glass, not a good sign. Maybe it's just because I came from white wine, but the amount of oak on the palate on this wine was almost to much for my palate. The fruit is there but behind the oak. Dries the mouth out hard with some nice tannins, I like the grip. Tart blackberries, wall of oak on the finish.

Rich ruby color, great nose and a mature Claret on the palate. Great.
