  The Return to San Sebastian; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (San Sebastian, Spain): Opened and left to rest. From the great cellar of Rekondo, San Sebastian.
  Still quite a lot of oak on this, dominant in many ways still. Smoky, sweet american oak. Good fruit though, juicy and with a ripe edge, soft secondary touches. Still a bit dominant on the oak front which was a bit of a let down for a wine of this sage and pedigree. Good 91 and we would suggest one lets this age more.

  Wow nose, savory, mushrooms, leather, fully ready and drinking at a pointe, souis bous, utterly delicious and full of character

  De color rojizo granatoso de capa media-alta, cerrado, más oscuro que la mayoría de cosechas análogas. Reflejos grandinos y anaranjados, brillante, muy limpio, sin asomo de precipitados. Ribete estrecho, cobrizo, diferenciado del menisco.
  
  Aromas de media intensidad, sin excesos, sin fisuras, íntegro, falsamente discreto, del todo integrado. No tiene un solo elemento que destaque por encima de otro. Puro orden, preciso, alejado de lo que estamos habituados aunque sigue siendo un Imperial absolutamente reconocible como pocas añadas. Carece de altura pero todo lo demás es de matrícula. El núcleo principal es compacto como un tronco: tabaco de pipa, higo turco, cascarilla de naranja y un fondo discreto a vainilla y tostados. Suave, sin altibajos (sobre todo con pocos altos).
  
  En boca algo más brillante y vivo. La primera impresión es de vivacidad, presencia, que va disminuyendo al paso. Carnoso, amplio, apalancándose en una buena cantidad de fruta en compota que desila al conjunto un matiz de dulcedumbre muy interesante pero que no va a más. En un momento de vacas flacas Cvne fue capaz de sacar al mercado un vino digno que sigue dando guerra. No dejará huella pero ya quisiéramos que el resto de bodegas riojanas fueran capaces de hacer algo parecido. El esfuerzo merece la pena.

  85% tempranillo, 10% graciano, 5% mazuelo - 13.5% vol.
  - Toda la uva procede de viñedos ubicados en la Rioja Alta. Vendimia manual a mediados del mes de octure. Permanece en depósito, a temperatura controlada, en los que realiza la fermentación alcohólica y reposa antes de pasar a criarse en madera. El vino madura durante 36 meses en barricas de roble francés y americano de 225 litros. Según la cosecha se deja descansar hasta 60 meses en botelleros en los calados de la bodega antes de ser comercializado.

  Popping some Diamond Creek (Plus private dinner at Cuenllas) (Vila Viniteca - Madrid): Easy wine of the nite.
  Meaty, intense, spicy nose.
  Loved its vivid acidity, showing a soft and ripe character on the palate and a remarkably fragrant nose.
  Little one-dimensional but that's CVNE style, isn't it?
  Still alive and kicking. Will develop further. Traditional Rioja at its best.
  
  Me encantó su viva acidez, mostrando un carácter suave y maduro en boca y una destacable nariz fragante.
  Un poco unidimensional pero ese es el estilo CVNE, ¿verdad?
  Todavía vivita y coleando. Tiene desarrollo por delante. Un rioja tradicional en lo mejor.
