2022 Port Harvest Tour; 9/22/2022-10/2/2022 (Porto, Portugal): With a dark ruby color, this wine features a rich nose of dark fruit - blueberry and blackberry. The smooth, intense mouthfeel shows some red currant and red fruit notes. The tannins are balanced and the acidity is spot-on through the very long finish.

I was excited to try this having seen the name a few times. Tried a glass at the Reform club. I thought it was quite austere and a bit tart with an overture of heat and alcohol. On the upside the dark fruit and caramel were pleasant and the tannin was fine. I expected a bit more complexity and length. It was not as voluptuous as I was expecting. Lots of sediment in the bottom of the glass - perhaps the end of a bottle that had been open a while ..?

The cork fell apart upon opening with a corkscrew. Decanted only a few hours before drinking. It would benefit from 8+ hours. Still very dark color. The nose, perhaps a bit hot but I'm drinking from a big red wine glass. Lovely ripe fruit aromas. The palate has smooth fine tannins. Sweet, not cloying. Long finish. Drink now to 20+ years.

2021 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2021-10/2/2021 (Portgugal): Chocolate, boysenberry, and some floral notes on the nose. Sweet cherry, red fruit, and tannins on the palate. There is a pleasant sweetness on this wine that lingers in the mid-palate and the rolls through the very long finish.

Very good, if not quite great. Maybe a little young?
