The 2012 is very similar to the 2002 but a more alcoholic and fizzy version. Lighter on the palate as well. Solid and very enjoyable but could have a touch more substances on the palate.

Wow this is a monster. Big nose of dark fruit, fresh meat, hint of spice lurking in the background and a touch of reduction. Bold and massive on the palate yet it is not heavy in any way. Long plush finish. A study in power without weight, but this needs a lot of time. That said, I am thrilled to have opened it tonight.

Very pure nose of candied fruit lifted by stemmy notes. Saline and spicy (from minerality?). Persistent fine tannins. Quite closed at the moment and in need of at least 10 years if not more.

[PWS' Domaines Leroy and d'Auvenay Dinner at Bellota Restaurant, Melbourne] Semi-translucent medium dark crimson-purple. Violet & lavender scented black cherry black raspberry bouquet with crushed rocks, dark plum, tangerine peel, spice, smoke & fully absorbed oak. Medium full plus, intense, very deep, concentrated, ample, vibrant, pure, tense & opulent black & red fruits soaring above a dense core of silky smooth tannins & some unobtrusive dry extracts; fair amount of fine acidity in impeccable balance; a GC-quality wine with understated power, delicate finesse & precocious charm. Long, refined & focused finish.

Slightly reductive, but floral notes emerge. Reminiscent of 2002. (812/3632)
