  • Another great showing.
This is open and really delivering a lot of pleasure from first pour.
Red fruits. Cherry on the nose. Darker red fruits profile and lovely aromatics in general.
Crunchy and juicy at the same time on the palate. Dark red fruits. More cherry. Lovey saline finish. Impressed by the complexity.
    Soft and integrated tannins.
This was a joy from start to finish. Might improve and evolve but why wait.

  • Bright cherry red. Immediately delightful nose of sweet blackcurrant leaps out of the glass, very pure and delineated, this is classy stuff. On the palate that rich seam of fruit rolls on in waves, explosively bright, polished and shiny. Fabulous. Good as this fruit is, it is overtaken by a level of acidity that is simply blazing in its intensity. It is too much at the present time, searingly disjointed, and remains all evening. Time will sort this out, there is more than enough fruit to cope with it, but this needs to be laid down for another five years to sort itself out and come together. The quality is undeniable, amazing that a regional wine can be this good, but also incredible that a decade of ageing is nowhere near long enough. Hold, this will be glorious in time. 88 now for the nose alone, will soar above 90 in the years to come. 2028+

  • I have a (probably completely wrong) view that Bachelet is a domaine that needs time. This proves I was wrong. This was open and really delivering a lot of pleasure. Wow. This is so good from open.
