  • St. Emilion night (Chicago, IL): Firm and structured, drinking quite youthfully at the moment, and really needing a lot of air to finally show more than just tannic structure on the palate. With that air though, there are more leathery elements, but a plush, black fruit profile starts to emerge. This shows the acidity and leaner, structural elements of the vintage in a backwards way.

  • Drinking absolutely beautifully at the moment, in terms of the colour, aroma, texture, flavours and the lengthy finish! Bravo! Reminding me the 1983 Chateau Ausone I tasted many many years ago, delightful

  • Let me say this …. a lot of times I drink an aged wine because I like the difference the wine shows over time. Aging doesn't make it better, tastier, etc. Just makes it a different experience.

But this particular wine is absolutely outstanding. This is what I wish all aged wines could do.

Colour is a vibrant, shiny, reddish garnet. Aromas are show a vibrancy rarely seen (by me) in aged wines. Berries, cherries, currants. Some spices, tobacco, earthiness, herbs, and a slight steely minerality (or is it graphite/flint). Round, tangy puckering (but not sour), full red berry fruit, and some plums and currants as you head into the mid palate. Dusty smooth tannins still show their presence. Tobacco and spices on the finish. Medium bodied, medium acidity.

  • When my wife says this is how a St Emilion should taste. Rock star. i understand that this label has been recently given a cru designation all of its own. Well deserved. Rich, velvety and full of all the ripe deep red fruit you could have in your dreams. For the 122 bottles that remain, you are in for a serious treat.

  • Nose: herb, tobacco, green leaf, currant, leather, spice, earthy.
Palate: plum, cherry, strawberry, black fruits, ripe, spice, leather.

Good age, med intensity on the nose, nose disappointing, palate is full w/ good age though lacking power.
