Sarsparilla, guarana, rooibos, assorted fresh spices...and truckloads of candied fruit on the bouquet and palate. Shamelessly manipulated, as the rusticity of Mourvedre has been stripped out, including tannins. Likewise for a sense of place, other than broadly 'California'. And, the alcohol here is over the top...pushing the Port-like threshold, and guaranteed to singe ones taste buds. All this noted, it does taste good, and there is some acid to it.

If anything, this has gotten better since our last bottle a couple of years ago. Not as full-bodied as some of Matt Cline’s other offerings, this is smooth, a bit acidic, but pairing wonderfully with our dinner tonight. Last bottle, too bad.

High in alcohol (15.2%), but the fruit and acid are there to back it up and balance it out. Prominent tannins and spice; this hasn't peaked yet. Very nice finish; went well with spicy meatloaf as something a little different, slightly geeky.

Shows promise, but remained closed-in despite uncorking 1 hour before pouring.
