80% Nerello Mascalese & 20% Nerello Cappuccio aged for 6 months in wood & 24 months in bottle
N: Closed; cherries, earth
P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH entry with nice frt met by some firming structure which DOES pretty much resolve by the LONG, spicy finish with a touch of tang. For now & through '19, POSS a tad longer. 13.5% ABV; My VG. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts WE, and 87 pts Wine & Spirits. [Though probably no longer available, this vendor's $14.95 KILLS the only other June 2018 listed wine-searcher vendor by ~ $10!]

N: Attractive cherries slightly atop flowers & minerals with notes of earth
P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt met by some very, VERY finely tannic pucker (yet with almost a swtish bent) which slowly, fairly seamlessly morphs into a LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy/swt finish with accompanying notes of very, VERY slight tannins from time to time. Should improve through '18, then drink through it's 10th yr without problem. A potential steal @ this price, it could well shine with tomato sauce based IT cuisine. 89 pts WE & 87 pts Wine & Spirits [This vendor's $14.95 KILLS the only other listed wine-searcher vendor by ~ $10!]

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Alpharetta, GA): Maroon core with pale crimson rim; roses, elegant nose, fresh, hints of sandalwood, slight orange peel; great texture, nice caressing tannin, sour cherry and plum, orange, currant; tasty, was on Nebbiolo because I never got the volcanic character.

Very developed and soft, a lighter red that really works well with food, balanced and soft but with plenty of presence I had this with meat but a seafood stew would have been excellent matching. Settle spice and herbal notes. Easy drinking.

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Bin 75): Dull red core with paler rim, see through; tart strawberry, cherry, medicinal, intense, high toned but not modern, rhubarb; smoky, volcanic, medicinal, leaner fruit, leather, lots of mineral, rhubarb, strawberry, herbs, sour cherry, strong bitterness, some tannin; called it.
