  We recieved this bottle as a gift with a warning that it might no longer be good. An indeed the lower part of the cork was brittle, partially soaked and impossible to get out cleanly. Also for this reason we decanted the wine, which probably helped.
  
  Both in the nose and on the palate there was still a surprising amount of fruit, reminiscent of a younger wine. Also still a lot of tannins, now rather smooth, but a hint of astringency left. The overall impression was powerful, but smooth and well-rounded, the wine went down very nicely with our dinner. It was surely some years its prime, with some notes of being an 'old' wine, but this was still just a mild shade on a quite rich palette of aromatic impressions. In summary, we clearly enjoyed the experience.
