First wine of the year. W cheese souffle just the two of us. Great wine with noticeable age on it. After about an hour it became a bit "woody" but this is quite good. Nice color, interesting nose and good on the palate. We had the '98 at Aureole at some point in 2007.

Showing a beautiful ruby at the core with a pink rose rim at the edge. On the nose beautiful scents of roses, earth, leading into a light hint of clementine rind, and rosemary. In the mouth bright acidity layered with bright flavors of raspberries, strawberries, pomegranate, cinnamon and a melange of unidentifiable flavors. Absolutely stunning...

Nice color, but the nose was dominated by a sharp meaty note that was out of balance with flavors of sweet cherry and earth. A good wine with some unusal mint/ iodine charecteristics that one will not find in many Oregon Pinot Noirs. Drink or hold.

Thanksgiving dinner. The crowd loved it with the traditional turkey. Decanted for about 1 hour. It really needs the air. fruit seemed a bit hidden still but there. became smokey by 2nd glass, maybe bit alcoholic(?) it was nice though. probably needs two more yrs in bottle. guests liked it better than i did. we compared it with a cali-pinotnoir which had way more fruit and juice and not the elegance.

10/20/2014 - sfowine Likes this wine:
A bigger style of Elk Cove wine with more prominent wood/spice notes, acid still good, and consistent color to edges with no signs of bricking.
