  • Medium yellow. Nose reserved revealing hints of toasty oak. Rich mouthfeel, light acidity keeps the wine in balance. Pear, pineapple and well integrated hints of toasty sweet oak in the finish. Drinking beautifully currently.

  • Light gold. Beautiful tropical fruit, pineapple, peach and pear. Crisp acidity, lovely cold but even better cool. Has just a hint of vanilla and oak but very light and well done

  • Pop and pour into a decanter, from magnum. In the glass, clear, deep gold. On the nose, honeysuckle, potpourri, and Meyer lemon. On the palate, an unctuous texture on the attack, with waves of soft citrus fruit on a smoky, flinty spine. The smoky oak and acidity don't make themselves apparent until the long finish, at which point they arrive in force - but you've been won over. At least from mag, this still has many years of life ahead.

  • New Year's Day wine out of a magnum. This magnum was aquired during a winery direct lottery in the fall of 2022.

5 hour double decant and then poured into 2 Grassl Carafes for a little more air and served at approximately 50+ degrees. The wine was paired with a maple smoked pork roast and consumed out of Sensory stems.

The bouquet was floral with slight hints of lemon rind and raw honey. The palate was of orchard fruits, earth, and minerality with nutty, toasty and carmelized undertones. There was medium to medium(-) acidity. The Chardonnay was well balanced and full-bodied.

The wine is matured at 10 years and is drinking at its peak but has several years left before seeing any decline, at least out of a large format bottle. What a great way to start 2023!
