Good, colder climate CA Syrah. Doesn’t quite have the savory, dark, iron, etc notes that I like in Northern Rhône, but it’s not at all over ripe or too fruity. Very well made wine, but lacks the complexity and depth to make it really interesting.

In a great spot. Floral nose, lots of ripe, juicy black fruit, and black pepper. Still sporting evident tannins and acid, but in balance. Finish is persistent and tasty. A restrained yet elegant CA syrah. Lots of life left in this beauty.
Addendum - as it is warming up, more fragrant. Potpourri. It is drinking well and on the climb. Goes great with dark chocolate!

What a difference a year (and patience) makes!
Appearance - clear, opaque, ruby/purple.
Nose - clean, youthful, getting spice over fruit. Bottle is still cold. Berry pie filling. Blueberry. Smell the crust. Medium intensity.
Palate - yummy. Still a little cold, medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium intensity, pretty much medium everything but finish. That is medium plus and you are glad since the taste is lovely. In fact, your mouth starts watering more after you swallow. Tannins might be a bit medium minus though you do feel them, again, after you swallow. Flavors are nice. It’s a dry peppery Syrah. Fruit is black/blue fruit. Ripe. But not jammy. Tobacco. Saltiness. Not quite briny, but salty.
I’m pairing with lamb shanks and looking forward to it. Agree it is drinking well. It’s at the stage where it is intriguing. Sort of bummed I broke into it and curious how this will evolve now open. But YOLO. How long should you wait?

Nice balance between tannins and fruit. Paired with thick ribeye steak and haricot vert.
