dark berry fruit -- drinks a little jammy. some dark chocolate notes. would be tough for me to pick this as pinot blind, would guess merlot. ay have been an off bottle as my notes seem an outlier.

Blind CA Pinot Noir (Round 2): Deep ruby color. A warm aromatic display of deep cherries, red berry compote, violets, clove and coffee - rich but lively. Tart, bright acid and dusty tannins provide a pure and electric feel on a medium-bodied frame. Juicy black cherries blend with fresh strawberries and McIntosh apple. I love the subtle complexities of roses, white pepper, earth and cola. Precise, lively and bouncy, this wine felt like the sleek skilled boxer of the bunch. Aged 11 months in 20% new French oak. Exceptional for this price point.

Restaurant purchase ($72 vs $39 retail, 13.9% abv) at Sunset Tower Hotel (old Argyle), W. Hollywood. Served around room temp accompanying their special Brown Derby Menu, Pot Roast and Chicken Pot Pie. Color was a lovely clear purple-red, with nice nose of cherry & strawberry. Very Smooth and well-bodied for a Pinot. Taste of Berries & Cherry with hints of pepper. Not astringent. Pleasant light lingering finish.
Edit: An exceptional presentation from the Sta Rita Hills appellation. Price has come down and avg retail is now about $25 - a bargain at that price.

This is an exceptional Pinot offering from Gainey's Santa Rita Hills properties. The same fruit used in the reserve offerings, this Pinot blend is sourced across lots and vineyards still with top AVA fruit. Smokey with casis and spice on the nose, full fruit of gooseberry and plum on the palate with moderate tannins. A great value wine from a drought vintage and a steal at the close out offer of 19/btl shipping included.

Very pleasant Pinot and at a great price point. Medium fruits, a hint of tanginess, yet smooth and somewhat mellow. East to drink and will do so again
