  • White pepper and faint strawberry on the nose. The palate featured mild red fruit, strawberry or raspberry, along with balanced acidity and tannins. 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio. This is a light, well-structured red wine that goes well with food or on its own.

  • I'm sure it's mental but I always get a volcanic soil aroma and flavour in Etna wines. It's certainly in this, along with spicy red fruits too. Something floral in the nose as well. I really didn't like this on opening but it had opened up after a few hours and was looking all together more coherent. Red berries, spice, earth, pepper and a hint of licorice. Minerally. Silty tannins. Good length. Such an unusual wine experience - 86 on day one 91-92 on day two.
