  • It was interesting to drink this after a Charles Audoin Marsannay Les Favières 2015. In theory, this ought to have been the better wine - 1er Cru from a more prestigious village and better know producer, but the Marsannay was definitely drinking better on the night. Perhaps this reflects the better vintage, but I remain unconvinced about tis wine, good as it is. I was hoping to see a more significant improvement at this stage in its life, but so far, it hasn't happened. I still have six bottles and will leave then for a while now, but will certainly be enjoying the Marsannay in the meantime.

  • Initially quite muted on the nose, this really opened up following decanting and over the next couple of hours. Medium garnet. Red cherry and bramble fruit, forest floor, smoke, liquorice and violets. Developing. Dry palate, fresh acidity, tannins fine and softening, medium+ finish. Very good quality, now showing much better than my last note two years ago.

  • Somewhat disappointing at the moment. The nose suggests much better than the palate delivers. Similar to previous notes but I’m not seeing any real improvement yet. Fruit is sharp and a almost a bit sour. I’m going to try ans forget about this for a while and see what happens.

  • Coravin sample. Medium garnet. Red cherry and bramble fruit, forest floor, smoke, spice and perhaps violets. Developing. Dry palate, fresh acidity, tannins fine but a little firm, medium+ finish. Very good quality, but needs more time to really show its best.
