  • Cherries and rose blossoms on the nose. Tastes lightly of summer berries with a mildly acidic accent.

  • Lovely light notes of peach and red fruit. Tight, persistent bubbles down the center. Much more focused than previously; has developed beautifully in the bottle!

  • Dinner at Booth One (Chicago, IL): I liked this bottle more than the last time I had it (thanks to the same person #grandcru #alldayeveryday). There was a pronounced peachiness to this wine (though it seemed more like a cherry note from a flute than a Burgundy glass), and just a modest hint of earthiness as well. The palate comes across with a really rounded texture, there's no linear acidity here the way a bottle of champagne might present it. Not to say this didn't have acid, but the feel and shape of this wine on the palate was quite different.

  • As with the last user, I'm going to call my bottle flawed too. Not as much brett as some natural wines I've had, but it's strange because this is bottled with sulfur and I haven't encountered this in any other Eyrie wines, including another bottle of this that I drank nearly two years ago, as well as a taste I had at the winery on another occasion.

For what it's worth, the two people I drank this with didn't notice the "bretty cider" taste as much as I did, but for me it was an obvious flaw and there wasn't much else going on despite a bit of air and a decent serving temp. I have one more bottle of this, so I certainly hope this issue isn't widespread.

  • I'm going to say this was somehow flawed. Consumed alongside Christophe Mignon Pur Meunier which blew this out of the water. This was pretty hollow, one taster said it was like 'bretty cider'. Disappointing especially given the cost.
