Lovely light notes of peach and red fruit. Tight, persistent bubbles down the center. Much more focused than previously; has developed beautifully in the bottle!

Dinner at Booth One (Chicago, IL): I liked this bottle more than the last time I had it (thanks to the same person #grandcru #alldayeveryday). There was a pronounced peachiness to this wine (though it seemed more like a cherry note from a flute than a Burgundy glass), and just a modest hint of earthiness as well. The palate comes across with a really rounded texture, there's no linear acidity here the way a bottle of champagne might present it. Not to say this didn't have acid, but the feel and shape of this wine on the palate was quite different.
As with the last user, I'm going to call my bottle flawed too. Not as much brett as some natural wines I've had, but it's strange because this is bottled with sulfur and I haven't encountered this in any other Eyrie wines, including another bottle of this that I drank nearly two years ago, as well as a taste I had at the winery on another occasion.
For what it's worth, the two people I drank this with didn't notice the "bretty cider" taste as much as I did, but for me it was an obvious flaw and there wasn't much else going on despite a bit of air and a decent serving temp. I have one more bottle of this, so I certainly hope this issue isn't widespread.

I'm going to say this was somehow flawed. Consumed alongside Christophe Mignon Pur Meunier which blew this out of the water. This was pretty hollow, one taster said it was like 'bretty cider'. Disappointing especially given the cost.

Two Chave birthdays (Portland): Pale peach color. As before, attractive aromas of cherry and light strawberry with a soft feel supported by acidity. Bright and frothy out of the bottle, then settles into a light effervescence. Pretty, persistent, food friendly. Has improved with bottle age.

Really interesting and lovely wine. The nose is bright with citrus and tropical fruits, hints of lees, floral notes, and a hint of honey. The palate has really lovely richness and doesn't taste austere at all despite the lack of dosage. It is crisp, filled with fruits, and has a lovely creaminess to it. Very enjoyable.

This wine has opened up dramatically over the past year. Consumed from Oregon Pinot Noir stems. Captivating nose of Pinot Meunier. Dark floral, red fruits, and some savage. Lovely texture and balance. The finish persists.

HDH Burgundy Auction; 4/1/2016-4/2/2016 (Chicago, IL): Slightly pinkish colour. Lots of interesting earthy and mushroomy funk on the nose. The palate has a touch of tart cranberry, and isn't quite as funky as the nose. Very bright and fresh, with tons of minerality. Perhaps this isn't as dense and potent as a top-tier champagne, but this is a very convincing and enjoyable bottle of bubbly all the same.

Pale peach color. Lovely aroma of cherry and light strawberry. Initially bright effervescence gives way to very light bead. Light bodied on the palate. A very pretty, food-friendly wine. Very good.

Light salmon color. Lovely nose and aroma with hints of fresh strawberry & cherry. Frothy start but not persistent bead. A lovely wine (the Pinot Meunier). For a first sparkling wine, a very good effort -- the Pinot Meunier is a terrific base wine. Enjoyed this a good bit.

The Eyrie Vineyards Fiftieth Anniversary Tasting (Portland Art Museum): Deep aromas of complex honey show in the glass, backed by faint notes of salami that work as a great counterpoint to the dominant, sweeter scents. The bubbles go crazy on the palate on contact. They have fine texture, but there are lots of them! The honey suggested by the nose delivers accompanied by deep melon flavors, icy minerality, and some very ripe apples. A touch of dried fruit flavor suggests a little age on some component of the wine, but it adds some richness to the enjoyable experience as well.

Eyrie Vineyards 50th Anniversary Vertical Tasting (Portland Art Museum): Bright peachy orange color. Spritzy effervescence; no beading evident (could have been due to the nature of the event... glasses pre-poured and served at table). Effervescence alive in the mouth, however. Lovely cherry with touch of strawberry fragrance and fruity, mouth-filling flavors. Has the acidity and fruit balance to age gracefully for at least several years, though Eyrie's track record seems to suggest much longer. May need some bottle time to gain more depth and complexity. Base wine 40% 2009 vintage aged 3 years in barrel; 60% 2011 also barrel aged. All Pinot Meunier. Disgorged January 2015. No dosage. Overall, a remarkable first sparkling wine for Eyrie.

Cherries and rose blossoms on the nose. Tastes lightly of summer berries with a mildly acidic accent.

Onion skin with persistent mousse. Great nose. Funky cherry, mineral and earth. Lighter cherry flavours and a nice finish.
