(Brief notes from "Sortimentsprovning at Barsac Wine Bar, Gothenburg with Prästgårdens Vinhandel, Portofolio Wines, Wine Waves, Armano's Wine, Fine Wines Sweden and I Vino dello Stivale")
Developing nose with really inflated aromatics. Sour cherry, raisin, plum, rose petal, violets, asphalt and toasted oak. Great intensity to the aromas but they lack finesse. The initial attack on the palate gets lots of sweet, raisin-y fruit but then there's this twist when really big, austere, woody tannins and high acidity just coats your mouth. A bit hollow on the mid but some sour cherry, raisin and rose petal comes through on the finish.
I'm not a fan of these modern/international styled Barbarescos/Barolos. The aromatics are really elevated in kind of the same way as New Zealand Sauvignon and/or Pinot Noir and the tannins often become really austere and woody. This wine may come around with aging if the fruit can outlive the harsh tannins. I'll pass.

Blind tasted. Nose showed mostly earthy red fruits. Palate with high tannins, others said high alcohol but I didn't get that, high acidity. Pretty obviously Nebbiolo.
