  • Not on the level of previous bottles. Missing some of the freshness (no spritz upon opening), without adding much anything else. Possible bottle variation (felt cork was a bit loose), but wonder if the wine is not in decline. Not bad, but a bit dull.

  • Strong yellow colour. Subtle nose, associations of spices and, a hint of lychee. On the palate, right out of the bottle a hint of spritz, but recedes almost immediately. Taste is fresh, yet smooth Acidity not at the front, instead an appealing roundness, not at all flabby. More mineral and herb association than fruit, but just as on the nose feel it leaning to subtle tropical fruit associations. Had a few bottles back in 2015. Probably less acidity now, but definitively as good or better as a whole. Very refreshing, yet not without complexity. Great value.

  • Pale lime green color. Rich, somewhat waxy and slightly smoky nose with aromas of peach, some fresh green apple, a little bit of wet smoke and a hint of zesty citrus fruit. The wine is dry, bright and firm on the palate with flavors of ripe citrus fruits, crisp green apples, some crunchy star fruit tones, a little bit of saline tang, a hint of stony minerality and a touch of apple peel bitterness. High in acidity. The finish is medium-long, refreshing and tangy with dry flavors of tart green apples, lemony citrus fruits, some crunchy star fruit tones, a little bit of sweeter greengage character and a hint of saline tang.

This was surprisingly similar to the vintage 2016 that was tasted alongside, showing very slightly more developed character, tasting a bit drier (perhaps vintage variation) and feeling overall a bit more open. Obviously going into the right direction, but also showing that this wine ages at a very slow pace. Let it wait for another 3-5 years - or a lot more.

  • Lys sitrongul.

  • Maybe I'm not in the mood but this Albarinho actually was very anonymous to the nose. A bit better to the palate but not much. A bit sweet, a bit bitter, but aromas in very low profile. Could easily have passed as a low cost Chardonnay from California.
